Totem Poles

Totem Poles, North America

⇶ Today we start to share some interesting places of the world. Lets start with North America.

⇨Brockton Point is the top of the Stanley Park peninsula, an area of protected natural forest in the center of Vancouver. It was opened in 1888.  It was named after Lord Staley of Preston, who later became Governor-General of Canada.  At that time, some areas of the park were occupied by a number of First Nations people where they lived, but strangely, the totem poles near that point had nothing to do with them.  Finally, in the year 2008, this cultural obsession was improved by establishing three gateways prepared by the Muquim tribe designers who used traditional land.

⇨Stanley Park's totem pole in the early twentieth century |  When the collection began, Vancouver's art, history and science organizations began to build attractions in the park.  To build an Indian village ".  The village may never have been built, but in those years more and more poles were either handed over or accepted, and some of the oldest columns were removed and placed in museums and replicas were erected.  The monuments were erected in 1962 at the present location.  Currently the most visited landmarks in British Columbia are established.

⇨Unique stories of the ancestors of the Pacific Northwest coast, these monuments are not only a decoration of the carvings on the tree trunks, but they are also a thing of worship. Each of these monuments is built according to the specific style of the community.  A vertical arrangement of figures that tell the story of the preservation of the tradition and culture of that community.  This needs to be interpreted.  Just as a book contains pictures along with its text, so does the engraver's words to the narrator.  These figures belong to the shamanic spiritual world.  Many of these figures are in the shape of animals and birds, such as Xizli bairns, the ravenous bears of North America, wild crocodiles, wolves, and beavers.

⇨Traditionally, some of them were mortuary pillars, with boxes containing the remains of the protagonist.  In addition, there were elements of the building known as the premises.  Hanging out with Thunderbird, it features the President's Talking Stick and its related story characters - killer whales, wolves, wolves and more.  It was placed in front of his house in the 1890s, with a rugged beak forming a formal entrance, and its spreading wings were painted all over the walls.  The relatively small Thunderbird House pillar was supported as a massive ceiling beam inside the house.  Accordingly, Zizley Beer held a human figure between his knees
